Antique Georgian Regency Old Sheffield Silver Plate Handled Cake Basket ANTQ
Presented is a very clean, beautifully made antique cake basket made of sterling silverplate (over copper) and decorated with elegant sterling silver gadroon rims, sterling silver floral and scroll corners and a lovely, untouched, acanthus leaf-flanked, sterling silver cartouche for engraving your initials, on the center of its handle. Seaming on the underside is beautifully wire sealed.
The basket is in superb condition. The handle is tight and stands or lies flat to either side, designs are crisp and the entirety, top to bottom is lustrous and intact, with very minimal surface wear. A bit of nice copper patina shows through in places along the handle, and there are a few very tiny specs along two edges inside of the basket requiring very close scrutiny to locate!
Mercifully, we do not include the florescent (faux) oranges with the basket!
Dimensions:  12 1/4 inches long, 10 inches wide and 4 inches high, not including the handle. From the base to the top of the handle is 9 5/8 inches.
