This auction is for a Pre WW1 Model 1871 Bayonet with Scabbard
.It
is a very nice example of the Mauser Model 1871 rifle bayonet with brass hilt, compete with the original brass-fitted leather scabbard.
The bayonet(in scabbard) is 23 ¾ long with a 18 " blade
The bayonet is in good condition and shows only light use.
The steel blade is in good condition, have not been sharpened, and I feel no nicks on the blade. The blade ricasso bears the maker “Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co.The blade have
some staining-but should clean-up.
The bayonet comes complete with its original brass mounted black leather scabbard, the
Leather shows typical wear with the stitching and staples being tight.
,in good shape with some cracking and one small hole (see photo- which is good for a leather scabbard over 150 years old)).

The brass handle and blade shows light use with great patina. The guard has brown patina, while the brass is beautifu
lly aged with some staining. The lock button and leaf spring function perfectly
