    Description

    For sale is a nice early silverplate on copper wire-work swing-handle basket.  The piece is just under 11 inches in diameter by about 7 ½ inches tall with the handle up.  The body and handle are made of twisted wire in a “chicken-wire” fencing pattern.  It has a floral scroll applied rim and a domed base with engraved leaves and berries.  The base has an inset plate of sheet metal as shown.  The basket has not been monogrammed.  There are no marks.
    Condition on the basket is fairly good.  There is minimal wear-through, but the basket is a bit distorted in places and there are normal signs of use.  There are a few dings in the base as well.  An attractive piece of early Victorian silverplate!
