GERMAN ERSATZ BAYONET, CARTER EB9, FOR 8MM MAUSER GEWEHR 98
Vintage military surplus, all-steel Ersatz rifle bayonet in original condition with nice patina.
An excellent example of the Turkish-modified German-made Ersatz bayonet.
Distinguishing characteristics include a pressed steel grip, flattened pommel butt with blunt nose and contoured finger edge, fullered German-made blade, and original crossguard with muzzle ears removed.
Absence of muzzle ears limits this type of bayonet to use only with the 8mm Mauser Gewehr 98.
The crossguard is stamped with serial number "4894". P
roof mark stamped on blade.
No other visible stamps or marks are discernable on the bayonet.
Blade length measures approximately 24.5cm. Overall length measures approximately 37cm.
