  • Condition: In good condition. The art glass is scratch and crack free. The face of the piece is very nice with one little chip on the wood frame on the right side, but the rear has been damaged (wooden frame). Please see detailed photos. As you can see someone has hammered in a couple of nails -- likely with the intention of hanging it on the wall. Unfortunately their work has damaged the reverse -- the wood frame is chipped. The art glass remains untouched and in fantastic condition, though.

    Monica Backström (1939–2020) was one of Sweden’s leading glass artists in the 20th and 21st century. After her art studies at ”Konstfack” in Stockholm, she worked for the Kosta Boda glassworks for more than 40 years. Monica became a prominent designer of glass mushrooms, eggs and vases with colorful expressions. Her artistry is represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
