Göran Wärff 1933-
Biography
Glass designer. After studying architecture and design in Germany and in Stockholm, Wärff became designer at the Pukeberg glassworks from 1959-64, moving to Kosta-Boda from 1964-74 and subsequently working as a freelance designer. He was visiting lecturer at the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 1977, and lecturer at the Sunderland Polytechnic, England, from 1981-1985
Few have such a deep feeling for the glass melt as Göran Wärff who has always shown special interest in the master craftsmen’s traditional skills in glassblowing and glass cutting. The play of light within the glass and the endless optical phenomena are recurring themes in Wärff’s art and design. Beyond the glass itself nature and the play of light in nature are his main sources of inspiration.Few have such a deep feeling for the glass melt as Göran Wärff who has always shown special interest in the master craftsmen’s traditional skills in glassblowing and glass cutting.
