Description
Good condition original pre WWI Imperial
German army officer degen dress sword. 31 ½’’ blade has been polished bright,
with a little graying, and has worn etching. Brass hilt has nice even color. Folding
guard functions fine and is engraved with the name Generalleutnant Hermann
Klotz and dates “1866” and “1870/71”, which refer to the Austro-Prussian War
and the Franco-Prussian War. Klotz served in both of these conflicts. Fitted in
correct original steel scabbard that has nice black paint with a little
flaking, no dents. Missing the throat screws. A rare and interesting sword that
will make a fine addition to a collection.
