Description
This is a nice basket by Barbour S. P. Co, part of International Silver Co. I believe it dates from the 1920s, as that was when they were doing silver plate on copper. It was popularly called Dutch Silver, maybe from usually being adorned with typical Dutch scenes. This one has what looks to be tavern and outdoor scenes. The repousse work is very detailed and well done. This one has been mostly polished and looks almost new, I don't see any wearing of the silver plate. The model or pattern # is 3731, it is about 14" tall, 8 1/2" minus handle and about 7 1/4" at its widest. The base does have some unevenness to it, the handle has either two areas of solder repair on the inside or that's how it was made (I'll go with a repair). It looks to be made of four pieces, the base, the body, the upper lip (which is bendable) and the handle. See the photos as they are part of the description.
