Condition: The blade has age related patina but is in Good shape some sharpening marks. One side is worse than the other where it looks like the guy was way off when he sharpened it. Some of these where originally "Saw Back" blades and were re-issued after the teeth were removed. This could be one? Wood grips are in decent condition with some small nicks and chips. The scabbard has minor age related patina but overall in good condition with a little of the original color here and there..

An ORIGINAL WWII era RARE Imperial German Mauser rifle Bayonet and Scabbard. The bayonet was made in 1916 in Germany and is stamped "SIMSON & Co. SUHL" on the ricasso. The top of the blade near the cross guard is stamped "Crown W 16 Crown and a letter". And a "38" on the bottom side of the blade near the cross guard. There are 3 more proof stamps on the end of the handle with Crowns and Letters. The Scabbard is stamped twice "0559 and Crown R". And there are two more Crown R stamps on the throat of the scabbard. The Butcher Blade measures 14 and 1/4 inches.
